Our Pastors
In 1995, the Diaz family felt God’s calling to start a ministry in the city of Chester, PA. With great enthusiasm, the entire family went to visit the city. Vincent, the eldest son, brought a camera to take pictures of the area. He was deeply disappointed when he saw the city’s condition. All he could say was, “This is a ghost city”; but that didn’t stop them from pursuing the calling they had received.
The Diaz family focused primarily on reaching out to the children in the community. Vincent and Lissette (the eldest daughter) were the Sunday school teachers. Lissette always baked cakes and cookies to make sure the children had something to eat before heading home, since most of their parents were either addicted to drugs or incarcerated. Nicole, the youngest daughter—just six years old at the time and affectionately known as “the little missionary”—was the one who most often visited homes with her parents. At an early age, she became aware of how many children are less fortunate.
In 2002, the pastor became ill, and the family decided to continue the ministry, Tabernáculo de la Fe (Tabernacle of Faith), in the city of Philadelphia, on 2nd Street between Wyoming Avenue and Roosevelt Blvd. They were there for six months, and due to the growth of the church, they moved to Tabor Road and Front Street. After seven years, that location became too small. To God be the glory!
In 2010, God opened doors on I Street and Tioga (Harrowgate Plaza), where the church remained for nearly two years, praying and working together with the goal of purchasing their own building. That year, the church declared the theme: “The Year of Fulfillment—Something Extraordinary is Coming,” and indeed, something extraordinary did come.
In 2011, under the new theme, “The Year of Sowing” (for one always reaps what one sows), something extraordinary happened. God opened the windows of heaven and blessed Tabernacle of Faith with its very own building. The church moved into the new temple on Thursday, December 15, 2011.
